Riding an e-scooter

What are the advantages of an e-scooter?

Are you thinking about buying an electric scooter? These arguments can certainly convince you

An e-scooter is significantly cheaper to purchase, operate and maintain than other means of transport, especially cars

Thanks to the removable battery, you can charge your electric scooter from any standard household socket (e.g. at home or in the office)! This means you don’t have to go through the hassle of searching for the nearest gas station.

Crowded streets, traffic jams, searching for a parking space? Thanks to e-scooters, they are a thing of the past! With the scooter you can move around the city completely flexibly and quickly, even in rush hour traffic.

Less CO² emissions, fewer emissions, quiet operation… by switching to electric mobility you are making a valuable contribution to environmental and climate protection!

E-scooters are not just a means of transportation – they are a lifestyle product! And rightly so, because the little speedsters not only look stylish, but also offer maximum driving fun. Especially in summer, there is nothing better than letting the warm wind blow around your nose – holiday feeling included.

Yes, helmets are also required for electric scooters! If you drive a motorcycle with a design-related maximum speed of over 20 km/h (or ride as a passenger), you must wear a suitable protective helmet while driving in accordance with Section 21a (2) StVO.

The range of an electric scooter varies from model to model. Some modern scooters even have a range of over 100 km. You can of course find further information about the ranges in the technical data of the scooters.

Please note: External factors such as cold, driving behavior, inclines or load can influence the range!

Compared to conventional scooters with combustion engines, e-scooters have significantly fewer wearing parts due to the hub drive. Therefore, the maintenance requirement is usually significantly lower and therefore less cost-intensive.

No, you don’t have to pay any special attention and you can start jetting straight away after the first charge! As a rule, the first journey is always a little shorter because the battery only develops its full performance after the third or fourth charge. You can of course also find further information about the charging process in your TiSTO manual.

With modern e-scooters, the battery can be easily removed in one move and charged at any standard household socket. This means you can easily charge the battery at home or in the office. Particularly practical e.g. E.g. if you have to travel a further distance to the office: Simply charge the battery during working hours in the office and drive home in the evening with a fully charged battery!

To ensure that your battery lasts as long as possible, here are a few tips: If possible, the battery should never be completely discharged. It’s best to use it regularly and recharge it immediately after use. You should also recharge the battery regularly in winter, even when it is not in use.

Also make sure to always protect the battery from moisture/wetness and cold and to store it safely!

Would you like to take your partner, best friend or relative with you? No problem with the electric scooter – all scooters are approved for two people. But be careful: children are only allowed to be taken on the e-scooter from the age of seven!

Are you wondering whether and where you can store your helmet? No problem – when you ride an e-scooter, you don’t have to carry your helmet around with you all the time. You can easily store it under the seat cushion. It couldn’t be more practical!

Yes, you don’t have to do without your scooter even in the dead of winter! You can use the e-scooter even in sub-zero temperatures – but please note that the battery performance decreases in cold weather. You should also always protect the scooter well from moisture and recharge it at least every 8 weeks when not in use. This means you can enjoy your electric scooter all year round!

All about technology

How does an electric scooter actually work?

An e-scooter consists of three components: 1. The motor, which transmits the energy directly to the rear wheel without any intermediate connection. The advantage: In contrast to the petrol scooter, there are no gearboxes and drive shafts in between. 2. The battery that supplies the energy to the motor. 3. The controller that regulates the speed and connects the battery and motor.

The biggest difference is that an electric scooter does not run on gasoline, but on electricity. Accordingly, the scooters contain a battery that is removable (depending on the model) and can be charged at any standard household socket.

E-scooters have a shorter range than scooters with combustion engines, but this is absolutely sufficient for city use!

In addition, electric scooters are significantly quieter compared to gasoline-powered scooters: you usually only hear a quiet whirring sound.

The maintenance/inspection of the scooter primarily serves to maintain its value and your safety, and should therefore be primarily in your own interest. Professional maintenance includes, among other things, the complete inspection of the scooter and batteries for safety and function.

Particularly during the warranty period, you should definitely adhere to the specified maintenance intervals, otherwise, in the worst case scenario, the warranty claims could expire. But you should also have an older vehicle serviced regularly (we recommend once a year!) to ensure your own safety and prevent wear and tear!

Of course, you can also rely on us at any time if you have technical problems! Even though you buy your TiSTO electric scooter online, you benefit from our flexible on-site repair service in your area. How it works? Quite simply thanks to our good network of nationwide partner workshops. If your e-scooter has a technical defect, please contact TiSTO Support! We will then organize an appointment with a mechanic near you.

2000 watts is 3 horsepower.

The service life (= achievable charging cycles) of lithium batteries is at least 1000 charging cycles if handled carefully. With good care and sensible use, that’s the equivalent of at least 60,000 km!

And as paradoxical as it sounds: the more you use the e-scooter, the longer the battery lasts! Because nothing is more damaging to the battery than sitting around unused for a long time. So ride your scooter as often as possible if you want to do something good for your battery!

The maximum speed of the scooter is around 45-50 km/h. However, the maximum speed may be slightly lower if the battery is almost empty.

No, you have no disadvantages whatsoever with a scooter limited to 25 km/h. Quite the opposite: there are actually advantages compared to the petrol variant! Because the e-scooter is not throttled, but limited to 25 km/h. As a result, the engine continues to run very smoothly and is even more fuel-efficient. When you put it on, however, the 25 km/h scooter is just as good as the models with no limit!

The charging time depends on the type of battery. For a lead gel battery, fully charging takes about 4-6 hours, for a LI-Ion battery it only takes about 2-4 hours. However, you can use the battery without any problems, e.g. You can also charge it overnight, for example, because the charger switches off automatically when it is 100% charged!
